• Introduce attendees to diverse programming languages and styles in order to change the way they think about solving problems with programming languages.
• Provide insights into how programming languages can be used together within the same software system.
• Convey a pragmatic "right tool for the job" attitude toward programming languages.

1. UniForum Chicago Polyglot Progammers SIG: Second Tuesday of each month at the Illinois Institute of Technology in Wheaton at 7PM
2. Polyglot Programmers of Chicago: Fouth Thursday of each month at Obtiva's office near Chicago's Loop at 6PM

Inspiration

I think it's important in this day and age of polyglot programming to understand a variety of different languages, as they are the design tools we use to craft software. Just like regular engineers must understand the physical properties of different materials, we should understand the capabilities, strengths, and weaknesses of different languages. And when to apply them. --Neal Ford

There won't be a next big language. There might be some that are more popular than others, but the way development will happen will be much more divided into using different languages in the same project, where the different languages are suited for different things. --Ola Bini
